Bringing his dream venue to life! Meet Blake Harris – owner of The Haven Event Space, Kansas City’s new premier event venue!
Blake has been a vendor for 10+ years in the wedding industry doing lighting and audio, so he’s seen hundreds of venues and spaces finding things he loves and doesn’t love. Follow along to hear about Blake’s journey and how The Haven Event Space came to be.
Getting started is never easy and that rang true for Blake and this project. After two and a half years of some tough obstacles, setbacks, and 9 bank rejections, the team was finally able to break ground in early 2020.
From the start, Blake knew he wanted to have a hand in every detail and design aspect – he picked out every light fixture, color, and piece of wood - Blake was ready to make the most of this 40-acre property.
Fast forward to today, lets admire some of the impressive features The Haven Event Space has to offer! The 11,000 square foot building seats up to 250 wedding guests for a ceremony and dinner, and up to 500 for a conference event. A 4,500 square foot outdoor party patio with two custom firepits overlooking the 5-acre pond and gated entrance with a black 3-rail horse fence surrounding the whole property. The groom and bridal suits are top-notch both including a full bar, lounge area, and ample get-ready room! For the men, a full X-box setup and pool table and for the ladies, 6 individual stations with adjustable LED lighting mirrors!
Blake isn’t just an owner who checks in here and there, he is all in and that has quickly become one of his favorite parts of this whole experience. Whether it’s jumping behind the bar for an hour during a wedding or getting to share his story and venue highlights when meeting with a bride, Blake is all in!
